Life can be a whirlwind and a gentle breeze
Sometimes, we reach a point where the world feels like it’s moving too fast, every message pings like an alarm, and somewhere in all that noise, a nagging question echoes: Who am I really?
If you’re feeling detached, overwhelmed, or simply adrift, you’re not alone. Life’s whirlwind can cloud the clarity of our own identities, but nature—pure, serene, and honest—offers an invitation to pause and listen in a deeper way.
Being surrounded by wild beauty in places like Costa Rica can awaken something long dormant inside us. The mountains, the sunset, the wind through the trees—these moments in nature work quietly, helping us peel away layers of worry and routine. The nervous system knows what to do.
This is why we created Tula Vida, to create space for you to remember your own voice beneath it all. Your voice is important.
Everyone talks about presence – but what does it mean?
Slowing down is an art form these days. When you step away from crowded schedules and drop into the rhythm of the natural world, you give yourself what’s so often missing: presence. Not forced or fabricated, but the simple awareness that comes from watching sunlight flicker across leaves or feeling the steady breathing of a horse at your side. The hamster wheel of thoughts slows down (imagine that!) as you give them a different focus, something that moves at the pace of peace rather than rush, and you finally relax.
Often these are the magic moments, and here we give them the credit and the time they deserve. Being present isn’t a lesson or a to-do list item—it happens naturally as you let go of the rush. With each breath inhaled under vast open skies, each step on unpaved trails, your mind begins to settle. Presence is the foundation for rediscovering who you are – because you are not your thoughts – layer by gentle layer.
Horses as guides back to self-connection
Horses are uniquely intuitive creatures; they sense emotions, read energy, and respond authentically. And they live in the present moment – for survival and also because they never developed the constant thinking part of the brain that we did!
Spending time with them in a nurturing environment brings a different kind of connection—not only to the herd but also to yourself. Horses sense our inner state, and when you let down your guard, they respond with full acceptance. They actively want you to be present and also to be open and honest so they can trust you – they sense what you’re feeling on the inside anyway, so when you stop hiding it, they lean right in. It’s like they can show you who you are moment to moment, are sensitive to the shifts you make and give you feedback with their behaviour.
As one client said about her horse partner, Gitana: “it’s like truth serum! How does she know?”
At Tula Vida, guided interactions foster trust, courage, and vulnerability. Each shared moment is a reminder that self-discovery doesn’t have to be a solo journey. With the horse as your bio-feedback and companion, you learn to listen to your inner world with more kindness and curiosity. And feel fully supported along the way.
Nature’s gentle wisdom
Unplugging in the heart of Costa Rica allows for the kind of quiet that modern life rarely grants us. Through simple things—a walk by the river, meditating at dawn, sharing stories around a fire—things just settle into place. The distractions fade, making room for realizations about what you truly value or the dreams you’ve set aside.
It doesn’t have to be a struggle, or work, or painful. In fact, having fun and feeling deeply safe and supported works wonders for everything else.
Nature’s wisdom is subtle but transformative, encouraging reflection without judgement. In this calm, nurturing space, you can safely explore the questions and uncertainties that have felt too heavy or too overwhelming. To remember not just who you are, but what brings you joy, and what you want to nurture as you return to daily life.
